What is the Courage Collaboration?

A mind-body youth enrichment program designed to cultivate the minds and bodies of individuals through a combination of character awareness education and training in martial arts techniques, concepts, and history.

The Courage Collaboration Program uses martial arts as a vehicle to help school aged children get physically active while developing lifelong learning skills. COURAGE stands for some of the many attributes our students attain through our program:

Confidence, Optimism, Unity, Respect, Accountability, and Empathy.

WHAT IS ENRICHMENT OF THE MIND?

  • It is the reinforcing and strengthening of one's overall approach to their mental, emotional, and behavioral lives.

  • It is the development of self-empowerment and self-awareness to help guide individuals on their future journeys.

  • Martial Arts training encourages focus, and teaches kids goal-orientation, determination, and positive self-talk.

Through the study of Martial Arts, students focus on body mechanics while learning and perfecting their techniques. This improves their balance, coordination, and reflexes.

WHAT IS ENRICHMENT OF THE BODY?

  • Increasing one’s physiological performance and well-being through proper breathing techniques, exercises, and nutrition.

  • Martial Arts training requires students to focus on their breathing while performing gentle movements during Kata, and traditional forms.

  • This requires students to be mindful of their thoughts and focus directly on their movement which induces a state of, calming, mindfulness.
